Editorial leadership in health-care communications.

I translate complex medical and public-health topics into plain-language content that physicians read and patients act on. Fourteen-plus years of editorial leadership, content strategy, and SEO-driven audience growth — most recently as creator of the AMA's flagship What Doctors Wish Patients Knew series, surpassing five million pageviews.

From the Author

I am a health-care communications and content strategy leader based in Chicago. At the AMA, I direct the newsroom's feature pipeline — about ten weekly stories that reach 1.8 million monthly unique visitors — spanning physician well-being, health-system recognition, and public health. I lead a team of six staff writers and twelve freelancers, coach toward better drafts, and hold the line on plain-language standards.

Before the AMA I wrote brand and SEO content for medical practices and consumer brands, ghost-authored three patient-education books, and earned an MS in Health Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My work has been cited by The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Athletic, and on health podcasts across the country.

When I'm not editing, I'm painting, sewing, woodworking, or tinkering with HTML and AI tools — a lifelong artist and maker.
